Give it 4 - 5 coats with the acrylic (properly mixed and thinned). This gives the paint flexability so if you kick the bumper all the paint doesnt chip off. If you go with the acrylic option you will also need some Flexi-Add additive for the paint. Primer is applied to help the paint adhere to the bumper in addition to. This requires a compressor and spraygun to paint BUT IT IS WELL WORTH IT FOR THE RESULT!!! Prime the bumper with a thick coat of flexible bumper primer surfacer, then let it dry. Now you can either get flexable paint in a spraycan the same colour as your car (not sure about avaliability though) or buy some acrylic paint tinted to your exact car colour. Feather fill G2 is meant to spray over a lot of body filler that’s cut and shaped with 60-80 grit. First, activate your spray can or paint gun before your first pass over the bumper cover. If you get any runs in it, sand them out after it has dried for about 5 hours with wet and dry paper (wet). Polyester Filler Primer or Polyester Glaze Putty. Plastic Bumper Painting Process Step 1: Apply Your Main Base Coat The base coat is the color paint that the eye will see once you've finished, so you'll want to take measures to ensure this paint goes on evenly without dribbles, splatter, or runs. If you want to sand it smooth you can, but it will come up whether it is still textured or not. To do it properly, give the bumper a rigourous sand with wet and dry 600-800 grit (wet). Dont use the normal paint you put on your car!!!! It has very little flexability and will chip off in a month or two.
